A partnership between the City of Jackson, MS and Jackson Public Schools led to assembling a youth council to discuss challenges facing the city in The Art of Governance project. This 7-month engagement wove through City Council Meetings, dialog circles with the Mayor, and an intergenerational dinner at a local hamburger joint to reinvigorate the Mayor’s Youth Initiative while offering participants lessons in governance, financial literacy, media creation, and civic practice.
